Should I shave or wax before applying self-tanner?
Yes—shave or wax at least 24 hours before self-tanning to avoid streaks and irritation.
Freshly shaved or waxed skin can be extra sensitive and more likely to react to tanner. Plus, open pores can cause a “dotty” look. Give your skin time to calm down, exfoliate gently, and make sure it’s clean and dry before you apply. Doing hair removal first also helps your tan last longer by reducing exfoliation after the fact.
